NADJA FOODS DEDICATION TO SUSTAINABILITY - One Cookie at a Time
There came a time in my life when the reality of scarce resources and our delicate environment became an interest and a way of life.
Though not perfect, I try to do my part. I recycle, reuse, buy organic and post consumer, recycled products and I am obsessed with never having to use another plastic bag again for my groceries. Otherwise I carry the guilt, along with my groceries, all the way home. I also know that every sustainable decision I make, no matter how small, really does make a difference. My mission is to be part of the solution towards a healthier planet even if it is through one cookie at a time.
My mother Nadja, began with the belief that she would only create wholesome food she would give to her children. Being one of her children I can vouch for her health consciousness and dedication to delicious foods. Her children have been her designated taste testers of her “healthy experiments” (as I called them) ever since I can remember. My Mother has successfully created “better for you” products nationally for Subway, McDonald’s, Schools, Hospitals and Grocery Stores and has been a guest on Oprah and other national media.
We are now taking it to the next level to increase sustainability through our new line of Nadja’s Certified Organic Cookies and Macaroons. Each one is made with all natural, USDA certified organic ingredients that support sustainable farming methods.
When my Mother was diagnosed with Leukemia a couple of years ago, we realized the importance of being part of a shift where there are more food options available with natural and whole ingredients. Cookies may be a small start but we are up for the challenge to increase wholesome and organic options through our new line of Nadja’s Organic Cookies and Macaroons.
Another area of our sustainable effort is the packaging. To reduce the use of styrofoam packing materials, boxes and plastic wrap, we created the reduced footprint and environmentally friendlier packaging for our online sales of Nadja’s Organic Cookies and Macaroons. Wherever possible, we incorporated recycled, recyclable and biodegradable materials.
